I started working with children and families as a swim instructor at the age of 14. My Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Arizona is in education. I coached junior varsity and was the head varsity swimming coach at Flowing Wells High School. I was hired by the University of Arizona to serve as the Assistant Director of the Sports-O-Rama program. We taught motor development and sports skills to children ages 3-12. The University of Arizona awarded me a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education which led me from teaching into administration. I retired from the Amphitheater School District after many years as an elementary principal and I feel privileged to continue a mission of educating children and building stronger families at Community Extension Programs. My memberships/affiliations include the National Association for the Education of Young Children, National Association of Early Childhood Teacher Educators educational research, Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, Arizona Center for Afterschool Excellence, Association for Supportive Childcare, Family Support Alliance committee: Early Childhood Education sub-committee and the Tucson Metro Chamber.
